Mr. Christopher Beane
Biography
Mr. Chris Beane has dedicated 27 years to advancing student achievement and educational excellence with the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA). Since 2023, he has served as principal of Naples Middle High School, where he continues to promote academic rigor, innovation and a strong, positive school culture. Under his leadership, the school has been recognized as an AP Platinum School, earned Cognia Accreditation with Distinction, and expanded fine arts and extracurricular offerings to provide students with broader opportunities for growth.
From 2013 to 2023, Mr. Beane served as principal of Naples Elementary School. During that time, he successfully led multiple accreditation cycles, culminating in the school’s recognition as a 2022–2023 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. His leadership focused on developing teacher capacity, strengthening instruction through data-informed decision-making, and fostering a collaborative environment for students, staff and families.
Prior to Naples, Mr. Beane served as principal of Vicenza Elementary School from 2009 to 2012 and as assistant principal of Vicenza Middle High School from 2006 to 2009. In Vicenza, he helped oversee the transition to new school facilities and supported military-connected families during periods of high operational tempo and multiple deployments. He also expanded access to Advanced Placement coursework, contributing to measurable gains in AP performance at the high school level.
Mr. Beane began his career as a classroom teacher in first grade and fourth grade Italian Immersion programs and later taught sixth grade social studies. He completed his student teaching in 1999 at Gaeta American School in DoWEA’s Mediterranean District, an experience that launched his career in international education and solidified his commitment to serving military-connected students.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University, a Graduate Teaching Certificate from Rider University, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
Mr. Beane’s leadership philosophy centers on building strong relationships among stakeholders, maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning, strengthening literacy and numeracy skills, integrating technology effectively to enhance instruction, and promoting strong school–home partnerships. He is committed to creating student-centered programs that foster empowerment, character development and personal growth.
Outside of school, Mr. Beane enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and playing padel with his wife, Natacha, and their three children. He credits his parents, both educators, for instilling in him a deep belief in the transformative power of education and the values of service, integrity and lifelong learning.
