The Wildcats open their basketball season at home against Vicenza on Friday and Saturday, while the wrestling team is on the road to Vilseck. Girls' and boys' basketball will play back-to-back games both days.

Eighth grade students at Naples Middle High School recently explored how mathematics can enhance narrative writing by graphing the emotional arcs of characters from curriculum-based short stories they developed earlier in the school year. The exercise blended mathematical thinking with storytelling, allowing students to visualize how a character’s fortunes rise and fall in response to key narrative events.

The winter sports season started last weekend with Wildcat basketball teams on the road at Rota and a home wrestling meet in the MHS gym. Boys wrestling finished first overall, girls wrestling finished second, and multiple Naples athletes earned top-three individual finishes as fans packed the gym to cheer on our Wildcats.

The Stemposium team met their new teammates and jumped straight into a straw-and-pipe-cleaner tower challenge before spending the day in StEMinars learning their specific engineering roles for this year’s scenario. Their mission focuses on identifying a deadly bacterium and figuring out how to sustain life in a bunker. In the evening, they were introduced to their engineering design challenge and began brainstorming solutions.

This week, Ms. Hannah, a Naples MHS student, brought technology into Mrs Phillips' second-grade ELA classroom during their unit on plants and animals in their habitats. Using Pear Deck, she turned a traditional lesson into an interactive experience that helped every student participate and share ideas.

The AVID December Huddle was full of holiday fun with silly team photos, holiday karaoke, hot chocolate, and a cookie exchange. The celebration was a great way to close out the year and carry AVID connection and community into the new year.

Student council is hosting Winter Spirit Week starting next Monday to bring out holiday charm and celebrate the end of 2025. Each day features a different dress up theme including Polar Pajama Party, Ugly Sweater Day, Ski Day, Holiday Character Day, and Flannel Friday.

Seventh graders at Naples Middle High School recently explored environmental conditions on Europa—one of Jupiter’s icy moons—using data-driven learning and differentiated instruction to design imaginary alien species adapted to extreme environments. The project creatively connected the DoDEA Savvas science curriculum to NASA’s ongoing Europa Clipper mission, giving students the opportunity to apply scientific reasoning, collaboration and artistic expression to real-world concepts.
