Spring Sports Results (Weekend of 3/14/26)
Baseball and softball sweep at Rota, girls soccer earns a shutout win, and track places well
Naples spring sports were busy this weekend with multiple teams competing on the road. Baseball earned two wins at Rota, taking game one 8-0 and game two 8-1. Softball also swept its doubleheader at Rota with a 21 to 5 win in game one and a 19 to 6 win in game two.
In game one, Savannah I pitched three innings with eight strikeouts, while Carlyn W went 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBI, Emily A went 2 for 2 with four runs, three RBI, and three stolen bases, and Regan R went 2 for 2 with three runs and three stolen bases. Additional contributions included Juliana I with two runs, three RBI, and two stolen bases, Chloe W with a double and two RBI, Isabella G with two runs, and Maggie S with three runs.
In game two, a Naples pitcher went five innings with seven strikeouts. At the plate, Carlyn W went 3 for 3 with two runs and four RBI, Emily A went 2 for 2 with a double and two runs, and Claire O went 2 for 3 with three runs. Other highlights included Rita H going 2 for 2 with two RBI, Juliana I with two runs and five stolen bases, Illyana R with two runs and two RBI, Maggie S with three runs, Chloe W with a double, and Regan R with two RBI.
On the pitch, boys soccer fell 2-0 at MMI, while girls soccer earned a 7-0 win. In track and field, the Naples boys team placed second with 137.5 points behind Vicenza, and the Naples girls team placed third. Boys' first-place finishes included Hudson S in the 800 and 1600, Henry C in the 3200, Tyler J in shot put and discus, and Naples relay wins in the 4 by 100 and 4 by 400, with the 4 by 400 team of Hayden P, Sam R, Hudson S, and Michael R.
