Spanish 1 Students Bring Holiday Traditions to Life
Students research present and recreate holiday traditions from Spanish speaking countries
This month, Spanish 1 students did not just study holiday traditions from Spanish-speaking countries; they helped us experience them. Each student researched and presented a specific holiday tradition from a particular Spanish-speaking country, such as Las Posadas in Mexico and Los Reyes Magos in Puerto Rico. Students then shared what they learned by creating festive presentation stations. At each station, students explained the history, customs, and cultural significance of their selected tradition.
After presenting, students led us through hands-on holiday experiences. We created symbolic candles for El Día de las Velitas, gave and received gifts from the Three Kings, ate grapes at New Year's, and enjoyed the fun of El Gordo from Spain. The students' activities helped bring culture to life and gave us all a chance to celebrate the season globally. Felices fiestas to all!
