Naples Middle High School hosts AP Night

NAPLES, Italy – Naples Middle High School (NMHS) successfully hosted AP Night on April 30, 2026, welcoming students and families for an evening focused on advanced academic opportunities, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Dual Enrollment options. The event, held in the library and cafeteria, aimed to help families make informed decisions about course selection while highlighting the rigorous and supportive learning environment at NMHS.

The evening began with a Dual Enrollment presentation in the cafeteria with Mrs. Bartely, school counselor. Families received guidance on eligibility, expectations, and how Dual Enrollment can support long‑term academic and career goals.

“AP Night gives families a clear picture of what Advanced Placement courses truly look like and how much support students receive along the way,” said Laura Hooper, AP Coordinator. “Our goal is to help students choose courses that challenge them while also setting them up for success.”

Following the presentation, attendees transitioned to the AP Fair in the information center. During the fair, AP teachers hosted informational tables featuring course displays, sample student work, recommended grade levels, and details about AP exams. Current AP student ambassadors shared firsthand experiences and answered questions from prospective students and parents.

“I thought the event was very well constructed,” said Sarah and Larry Williams, NMHS Parents. “The students led the presentations which provided unique perspectives to the respective courses.”

The event emphasized transparency and support, allowing families to engage in meaningful conversations about workload, academic readiness, and the benefits of challenging coursework. The senior counselor and AP teachers were on hand to assist with planning questions and to help families better understand how AP courses fit into an overall academic pathway.

“As an ambassador, I felt incredibly helpful, mainly because I was able to give valuable insight for AP Seminar,” said Aden Lafontaine, AP ambassador. “I think having an ambassador to help with a class is incredibly useful when helping students choose whether to take a class. I believe if I would have had an ambassador to tell me about the class before I took it, I would've had a lot less worries coming into the school year, so overall I believe I was able to help resolve a lot of potential anxiety that future AP students might have.”

AP Night reflected a strong collaborative effort among teachers, students, counselors, and school leadership, reinforcing NMHS’s commitment to high academic expectations and student success.
