PSAT/NMSQT and SAT Testing (11th grade & select 12th grade students)
On October 6, all 11th-grade students at NMHS will be scheduled to take the PSAT/NMSQT, while 12th-grade students who are new to DoWEA will be scheduled to take the SAT. Students do not need to sign up for testing, and there is no fee.
The PSAT/NMSQT provides students with an opportunity to measure their college readiness and get a sense of how they may perform on the SAT. The exam includes two sections: Reading and Writing and Mathematics. Students who have previously attended DoWEA schools have taken versions of the PSAT beginning in 8th grade.
The PSAT/NMSQT also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. High-scoring students may become eligible for recognition through the National Merit Scholarship Program, making the exam an important opportunity for juniors.
